Something to pass the time...

When I'm not serving steaks to the unhealthy people of Lindenhurst, hunting for free drinks at the bar down the street, or lounging around my house watching Lost re-runs, I am an intern at Us Weekly magazine. I love the internship, don't get me wrong, but I work 10 hour days and it can get a little boring. However, one of the 'jobs' I have as an intern is to read celebrity gossip blogs everyday. So, for those of you who are bored out there, here is my list of the best celeb blogs out there. I tend to like the sarcastic, snarky ones the best. Because even though TMZ and Perez Hilton give actual celebrity gossip news, those meaner ones are wayyyy more interesting to read and usually give me a laugh - then again, I do have a guy's sense of humor at times. Anyway, look these up next time you have nothing to do. They're fun, I promise.

365-Two

Day 2 of the Flickr project. I'm really enjoying it.

Bitter cold in NYC today. My hands froze during the 2 block walk from the subway to the Us Weekly building. I wore a cozy but itchy long blue sweater from H&M and jeans tucked into Ugg boots. Wish I had pictures, but was too lazy.

Until tomorrow....

365 - One

I just joined the Flickr group 365 Days, and decided to also share the photos on my blog.

This group is perfect for anyone who loves to take pictures of themselves - you now have a place where it is required and no one can make fun of you for it! It's just the right place to indulge those narcissistic tendencies we may have.

Also, this year I have come up with a slightly different resolution that I would love to follow. It's for me to do at least one thing everyday that makes me happy and that makes me smile. At least one thing that makes me not take life for granted. So I'd like to share that one thing with my blog also!

And so, the thing that made me smile today was...
- I started reading a new book. Not exactly new, I guess, because I've read it once before, but I enjoyed it so much that I really wanted to read it again. It's called 'The Center of Everything', and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good book!

BoysLikeGirls

Recently, I went to a BoysLikeGirls, Cobra Starship, The Maine and VersaEmerge show in NYC, and this is what I wore:

Tank: Forever 21, $13
Jeans: Hollister
Leopard Cardigan: Forever 21
Boots: Yoki, Love My Shoes, $45

I bought the tank top right before the show, everything else is is relatively old. I must have worn that leopard cardigan like, 30 times since I've had it, oddly enough it seems to go with everything. Not that you can tell in these pictures, cause I have it pulled back, but the tank top is a size too big for me. It kind of hangs, especially around the top, so it shows off basically my whole bra.

What do you guys think of the outfit? I think it was cute for a fun little concert with my sister. I love the picture on the tank top, it's so much fun and so adorable. The big red sunglasses on her is what got me. I was like, I absolutely have to have this!

These are the boots I wore with it, I got them a few weeks ago and have only worn them a few times. I'm just not really sure how I feel about them. I bought my favorite brown boots at Aldo for a lot of money... their real leather, they stretch, their incredibly comfortable, and they don't look cheap at all. But these were much cheaper, and their not real leather. I'm afraid that they can sometimes look too cheap. I should never have gotten them, I definitely should have waited and just saved up enough money to buy real leather ones, because it bothers me every time I put them on. But what do you guys think? Cute, or no?

The concert was amazing by the way! I actually am not a big fan of BoysLikeGirls, so even though they were headlining, I was really there for Cobra Starship. Me and Cobra have a special relationship ;-) Hehe not really, but I've met them several times, I have had the lovely opportunity of hanging out with them at a few different bars, and I was also a part of their VMA entrance... so I kind of I guess feel closer to them than I do to most bands. Cobra was really good, and Leighton Meester came out and preformed Good Girls with them! That made my trip into the city totally worth it alone. I absolutely adore Gossip Girl, and Blair is my fashion idol and my favorite person on that show.

And that's enough for now! Hope everyone enjoyed pictures of my messy room =O

You Need to Know: Christmas Wish List

It's the second day of December, so of course, Christmas is all anyone can talk about. And why wouldn't it be? It's such a fabulous holiday! I mean seriously - yummy food, seeing family (I guess for some maybe not so fabulous), cute little decorations everywhere, maybe the promise of snow. And of course, the very very best part - PRESENTS! I absolutely adore presents, especially on Christmas. I mean, stores just come out with the most adorable things around the holidays! It's like, I go out to buy some presents for my family, and wind up wanting everything all for myself. Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about, I know everyone does it.

So I decided that in order to really get into the Christmas spirit, I would make a little wish list on here. I'm kind of bored and I can't sleep since I took a nap at 9 pm... damn being lazy!

This adorable shirt from Forever 21. Yes, I'm 22 years old and still love Hello Kitty. I can't help it - she's freaking adorable. And look - RHINESTONES on the bow. Seriously, it can't get any cuter.

This beautiful coat from Forever 21.  I already have a winter coat, but this one is such a pretty color blue, and I so love all the buttons on it. I tried it on at the store and the fit is really nice too. I hate when coats are bulky and make you look shapeless - this one nips in at the waist and it's comfy. Plus, I have so many scarves that would just look so cute with it.

Pretty necklace from Forever 21. Love chains, love flowers, love long dangly necklaces - and love the ribbon intertwined in there. So cute. I could totally wear this with a plain white tee or a little black dress.

I need this little set from Victorias Secret. So much fun! And it's boyfriend style so it's probably so comfy. Actually, looking at the PINK website, I don't really know how I ever found cute sweats before it existed.

This clutch from Betsey Johnson. I am a sucker for leopard print. I know that sometimes it can look tacky and totally New-Jersey-housewife, but I think when it's served in small portions it is so much fun. I  don't even like clutches and I could totally picture myself walking around thinking I'm so cool with this one. Plus, it looks like it's big enough to successfully hold under my arm without dropping it.

Ugh I love Juicy Couture. Really, who doesn't? And I so desperately need a big bag like this. Every time I see this at the store my heart breaks because I know I will never get it. I don't know how I know, I just do it. But I want it. So, so bad.

This Marc Jacobs perfume smells sooo yummy, but the best part I think is the bottle. Damn these advertisers, they know girls can't resist this cute packaging! The perfume could probably smell like my dog and I would still want it just so this could sit on my dresser and look pretty.

I don't know why I'm obsessed with brush sets from Sephora. I just am. Maybe it's because their so soft and feel so nice on my face. Maybe because the little applicators that come with eye shadow suck so much. Or maybe because I just like unreasonably expensive small things. I don't know. But I know if I had this brush set I would never have to buy another brush again. Too bad my mother would never pay that money for this. :Sigh:

childhood

Last night I indulged my inner annoying 13-year-old girl and went to the Miley Cyrus concert with my sister. I can't lie, I love that bitch. I know everyone thinks she's annoying, but I love her, and I think the Hannah Montana show is hysterical. But then me and the Disney channel have always had a thing going on <3 love you.

That's me and my little sister at the concert. We look a lot alike - she's 7 years younger than me and also taller than me. Then again, it's not that hard to be taller than me considering I'm 5'0. :-/

So this show was basically, like, all little girls under the age of 14 (and then me), but Miley was totally provocative and dancing all up on the boys in her band. Whatevs, I say who cares, but I could totally hear some of the parents there complaining about it. Anyway, I thought she put on a fun show and I had a good time.

Today is a gorgeous day but I am not taking advantage of the sunshine. I did go to the gym this morning though, so props to me for that. I took a step class and did a total body class. Let's just say I'm in pain. I've gone to the gym 4 days since Monday and I'm really proud of myself for doing it. Woohoo! And I still want to go Monday morning! Amazing!

Speaking of the Disney channel, here's a picture of the sexiest boy who has ever been on it to end this little post. Enjoy :)

Number 1

First post. Huh. I honestly never know what to write in the first posts of these kinds of things. Am I supposed to give a little mini autobiography or something? I have no idea.

But here goes anyway: My name is Jessica, I'm 22 years old since this past Halloween, I recently graduated college, and I'm a waitress at a popular steakhouse. Since I don't feel like serving steaks to grouchy customers is my real calling, I have been frantically searching for a job in the print journalism field for the last few months, with no success to speak of. I love fashion, I'm addicted to shopping, and, oh yes, I'm single. Of course. I have absolutely no luck in the guy sitch either, which is always fun.

Meeeeeee......

Today I did two things that I definitely should not have done, and didn't do any of the things I should have. Go me!

I was supposed to have two interviews in NYC, but I ditched them. Yeah, I know, what's wrong with me? How I can possibly complain about not having a job and then go out and ditch two perfectly good interviews? Okay, but in my defense, they were for unpaid internships! One for US Weekly, and one for Time Out New York. I mean, interning at US Weekly would probably be amazing, but honestly, I just don't have the money to support an unpaid internship in the city right now. I've been enjoying my parent's paying for everything for the last 22 years of my life, but that is slowly ending now. They might have paid for the train and subway fare for me to go to my Redbook internship, and they may have given me their credit card and allowed (okay, so allowed miiiight not be the right word) me to use it for lunch at Hearst Tower and morning coffee at Starbucks every day, (very bad idea on their part - they know I can't resist the plastic) but not anymore. They said if I want to waste my time on a 'job' where I'm not getting paid, I can pay for the transportation myself. And working in the city means less time at the restaurant, so that means less money... therefore, I just can't swing it. So really, there was no point in me shelling out money for the train ticket and subway and cab fares just for two 15 minute interviews.

Okay, so instead of doing that, you would think I would do something productive with my entire day off. Like, maybe, work on my grad school applications? Search for some freelance blogging? Write my book? No... I went to the mall.

Seriously, though, I got really cute stuff. I mean, I spent $60 on the HOTTEST heels from Bakers, and then spent the exact same amount at Forever 21 and got a big chunky sweater, two tshirts, and a scarf. Yum.

Okay, well, you know, I think this first post summed me up pretty well. Some of my worst habits all in one day - procrastinating, being lazy, and spending money on things I don't need.
